Tweed

Weather forecast: Cold conditions & hot fashion

Nothing screams fall more to me than tweed. Tweed is a rough woolen fabric usually made from weaves of twill and often found in suits, coats, skirts, and blazers. Often tweed is homespun giving each piece its own unique quality. Think of it like wearing your own piece of artwork. Often a staple and iconic fabric in Ireland and Scotland to stay warm when the brisk cooler weather hits. However it was typically worn by the upper class so if one owned tweed back in the day it was a prized piece and still one among vintage collectors.

Tweeds have since become a common fall staple fabric with their patterns ranging from plaid to herringbone. They have a warmth to them so the cooler fall air doesn’t bite and are often in warmer tones like browns, golds, and oranges which are perfect for fall.

To add a contemporary spin to tweed I suggest pairing a tweed jacket or blazer with your favorite band tee as I did here or with a graphic tee. You can alway pair it with denim, but this also does give a fun option to mix elements like a metallic or leather skirt. If you have a pants or a skirt that is tweed add your favorite chunky sweater or layer with an undershirt and oversized cardigan with a favorite pair of booties or combat boots and you will be stepping into the season not only warm but also on trend.

Shoot me a question if you have any questions about pairing your tweed pieces. Cheers, Rana
